“The totally redesigned favorites manager. Yes, we’re calling them favorites because bookmarks are for books. And besides, Flickr is a good source of design inspiration. ;) ” That’s what fatoryjoe said.

At last, it’s working again and making life even simpler to sync with time… :)

Flocker

1 11 2005

Well, now that (maybe) you have tried out Flock and you liked it, you might be missing your customised Firefox with all those extensions you installed to make the browser YOU like…

But worry no more, as those precious extensions can be converted to be installed in Flock now! Just had to Geoff Gauchet blog and download Flocker – a program that converts your Firefox extensions to be installed in Flock! The conversion is pretty simple – just drag and drop the extension file (*.xpi) into the window of Flocker and another file is created which is compatible with Flock. Pretty easy and simple!

To install the new extension just drop it on an open window in Flock and off you go! Just a small warning: not all the extensions work till now, but many of them work correctly. The author is working on an update to make more extensions compatible. Worry not for now, as there is quite a big choice to choose from. Go Flock your extensions now with Flocker!

Flock + popular services = bye bye other browsers?

Welcome Flock User

What is Flock?

Flock seems to be the new browser on the block, following the steps of Firefox. Their DNA is the same, as both are built on Mozilla engines – in fact there are quite some things similar and there has been some Firefox extensions converted to Flock.

So what makes Flock more interesting?

Though Flock is in a very early stage, it launched containing some services that are currently very popular.

The main ones are:

- You get a free blog space from WordPress, as you can post to your blogs directly from Flock (this post is written in the blog feature of Flock to try it out, and looks it is pretty good…);
- You can sync your bookmarks with the Social Bookmarking System – del.icio.us;
- You can view your Flickr Photostream (or anyone!).

Looks pretty cool regarding the services chosen, as all are very popular at the moment, so no doubt that many people would be tempted to try out this new browser (like myself! ;P)

I would like to see some other addons though, like an RSS / feed reader. Haven’t checked what’s in the pipeline for Flock yet, but and RSS reader addition to the above mentioned services would make Flock a really all-in-one browsing tool for the internet. My current RSS reader is Pluck, which exist for IE and also for Firefox, so I’m hopeful that the Firefox extension would be easily converted to Flock… maybe?

May Flock keeps flocking with the internet browser flock!
